To all VABL Managers, Players, Umpires, and Fans:
We are expecting extremely high temperatures this Sunday across our game sites in Ojai, Fillmore, and Ventura. Inland venues like Ojai Valley School and Fillmore Two Rivers Park will see severe heat, and even our coastal fields in Ventura will experience unseasonably hot conditions on the turf and dirt.
To ensure everyone stays safe and games can run smoothly, all teams and spectators are required to follow these mandatory heat prep protocols.
Dehydration can set in before you even step onto the field. Do not rely on field facilities or snack bars alone.
Bring More Than You Think You Need: Every player must bring a minimum of 1 gallon of water/electrolytes for their game.
Pre-Hydrate: Start loading up on fluids on Friday and Saturday. Drinking water right before game time is too late.
Electrolytes are Mandatory: Water alone isn't enough under high heat. Bring electrolyte packets, Gatorade/Powerade, or pickle juice to replace lost sodium and minerals.
Cooling Towels & Ice: Managers should bring a team cooler stocked with ice and damp towels for quick cooling between innings.
Shade is essential to lower core body temperatures during breaks.
Pop-Up Tents / Canopies: Teams and spectators are strongly encouraged to bring 10x10 pop-up shade tents for dugouts, warm-up areas, and bleachers—especially at fields with limited natural shade.
Protect the Spectators: Ensure family members, kids, and fans sitting along the foul lines have adequate overhead shade and plenty of cold drinks.
Know the Signs of Heat Illness: If you or a teammate experience dizziness, muscle cramps, headache, heavy nausea, or sudden fatigue, remove yourself from the game immediately and inform your manager.
Listen to Your Body: No single regular-season game is worth a heatstroke emergency. Play smart, look out for your teammates, and prioritize safety above all else.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping VABL games safe and competitive. See you on the field this Sunday—stay cool and hydrated!

Get ready for another exciting season of Fall Ball! We're finalizing plans for the Fall Ball 2026 season and want to make sure everyone has the key details ahead of time.
Forecasters are predicting a large El Niño season this fall. This significantly raises the chance of rainouts and lost field time throughout Fall Ball.
Please note: Rainouts will NOT be made up this season. Plan and budget accordingly, as a heavier-than-usual rain pattern could mean a real reduction in the total number of games played.
We're looking forward to another great Fall Ball season! Please reach out with any questions or to confirm your team's participation.
